Play Troupe And Grupo Jugando Para Aprender:
(Spanish speaking Play Troupe) Families with children ages 18 months to 3 years participate in a weekly literacy based group, with arts, books to own, presenters, area resources, field trips, and performances.
Themed Play Groups: Examples of topics include music, dance, nature, and gross motor activities.
Parent Workshops: Held at different community locations, topics range from early development to discipline.
Elementary & Middle School Age Programs

RAD (Recreational Alternatives to Drugs): 3rd through 8th grade youth participate in activities that include field trips, school vacation days, and skill building series.
School Based: After school health & arts activities are offered at school sites, including days of early dismissal.
Youth Action Council: Young people conduct community service projects, as well as plan Student's Night Out and other opportunities.
High School Age Programs

Teens In Action: This leadership group meets regularly to implement community service, prevention projects, advocacy, program planning and peer recruitment.
Higher Education: Informational sessions and tours are provided at colleges and technical schools.
Students Night Out: These recreational evening events offer athletic, musical, and social opportunities at the Martin Center, coordinated with the Recreation Department.
Special Activities: Varied programs are offered, such as Scouts Venturing & arts classes.
Teen Employment

Work For It: The teen employment program trains and places 14 to 18 year olds at local job sites spanning many fields.
Pipeline Internships: High school age teens benefit from on-line courses, credit, and summer employment in designated career tracks.
W.O.R.K. Shops: Teens participate in school-year work-force skills sessions, with NL High School Career Center, as well as Career Connections mentor dialogues.
Job Support Center & Computer Lab: Teens can take advantage of information about job openings, resume development, interviewing, and career resources.
Juvenile Review Board (JRB): Is a community based system, to divert first time misdemeanor youth offenders who meet the criteria, from the Juvenile Court system connecting them with local services and agencies appropriate for their needs.
Teens In Gear: Working with the NLPD, youth learn bicycle repair and provide free bicycles to the New London community.
Whale's Tales Book Bank for Kids
This children's book bank provides free books to children and their families through local schools, organizations and literacy programs. The book bank is is open 9 AM to 3 PM., Monday through Friday, at the Martin Center, 120 Broad Street, on the mezzanine floor.
Community Events & Resources
Youth and families are served through fairs and festivals, planned with regional Youth Service Bureaus and New London agencies.
