ProgramsRecreational Alternatives to Drugs (R.A.D.)
Youth ages 8 to 14 generally participate in three activities per month. Activities include field trips, school vacation days, workshops, family programs and community/environmental service.Focus Group on Youth
Youth and community agencies meet monthly for special presentations, training, excursions, and networking.
Teens Off The Hook
Youth ages 14-18 years old can register for two offerings each month. Programs are organized by teens and include college tours as well as recreational and arts opportunities.
Play Troupe
Families with children ages 18 months to 3 years participate in a weekly literacy based play group series. Sessions also feature arts and movement activities, books to own, newsletters, presenters, and performances.
Park Play
Families with young children enjoy outdoor, downtown, summertime performances, crafts, and books to own.Whale's Tales Book Bank for Kids
This children book bank provides free books to New London children and their families through local schools, organizations and programs. The book bank is housed at the Martin Center, 120 Broad Street, on the mezzanine floor.Work For It
Teens ages 14 to 19 year olds are placed at varied education, health, environmental, recreational, arts, and human service organizations throughout New London. The summer youth employment program offers youth a chance to gain job experience, initiate career contacts, improve marketable skills and prepare for their future. Teens also participate in a two day job training program.Community & Prevention Events
Youth and families are served through fairs and festivals, planned with regional Youth Service Bureau’s and New London agencies.New London Community & Campus Coalition (N.L.C.C.C.)
The coalition targets underage alcohol and substance abuse prevention. Key initiatives are coordinated with the New London Public School, Police Department, area colleges, and over 17 different member organizations.Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.)
